Practical questions

Short questions that help the owner

Simple answers to everyday practical business issues.

Is it a problem if the invoice comes after payment?

It can create ambiguity if the payment is not clearly linked to the document. Each payment must have a clear invoice, contract, salary or explanation.

Why does the bank not always show the real profit?

The bank shows the movement of money, but not always the profit. For profit, revenues, expenses, liabilities, wages, taxes and unpaid documents must be controlled.

Should every fiscal coupon be saved?

Yes, if related to business expense. The coupon must be legible and related to the business activity in order to make sense in the documentation.

Why should the documents be sent during the month?

Because mistakes are caught earlier. If documents are sent only at the end of the month, the risk of delays, absences and incorrect filings increases.

Should the owner know every month how much he earned?

Yes. Even if there is no detailed report, the owner should have a clear overview of income, expenses, liabilities and available money.

What is more dangerous: the missing document or the wrong document?

Both are a problem. Missing document creates gap while wrong document can lead to inaccurate reporting. Both should be checked as early as possible.

Should the personal account be separated from the business account?

Yes. Mixing personal and business expenses creates ambiguity in accounting, reporting and financial control.

Why are cash payments more sensitive?

Because cash payments are often forgotten or not linked to a clear document. Vouchers, invoices and explanations for each payment should therefore be kept.

Can I make an investment decision just by looking at sales?

No. Before investing, the profit, cash flow, obligations, fixed expenses and the impact in the coming months should be checked.

Do I have to have a monthly report even when the business is small?

Yes, even the simple ratio helps. The small business needs to know where the money is going, what expenses are increasing and what needs to be controlled.

Why should employee documents be in order?

Because the contract, salary, holidays, changes and termination of employment must be clear. This protects both the business and the worker.

Should every business decision be saved?

Decisions affecting salary, ownership, directors, activity, major expenses or employment relationships should be kept in the business file.
